A place deep in the forest of Canada. It looks like ruins of a stone village. It is foggy and a dark presence lingers in this place. Many avoid this area as they say it’s cursed.

Since Fetterlings came from a realm just above ours, The Heap is a part of the world where the boundaries are closer than we realize. Because of its closeness the Plague has been trying to breach more there. While the plague does not affect anything natural to Earth it does still strive to infect the Fetterlings and any and all creatures that came with them from their world. The dark presence there is the caused by the mix of plague and natural magic that is trying to breach the barrier. Humanity nor Fetterlings realize this yet. The Heap and places like it can be a place that Fetterlings (or their companions) can be blessed, warped, or cursed. Earth things in particular can be warped but can't take on the plague. It is very likely that most Cryptids have come from places like these and part of how/why we don't find packs or herds of Cryptids is because it was a creature that was warped by the magic. Specific creatures getting warped can result in the same Cryptid. I.E a deer may be warped into a Jersey Devil. And there can be tails of similar yet different creatures because the magic warps the same type of creature to be similar or the same.
