News and Updates

As a game in its BETA phase, the ChS content is constantly growing and changing.

  1/31/25

1. (1/25/25) Big news today, we have a new species to welcome to the ChS universe~

A peace treaty has been reached between the Alfien’s and the Voidwings and as a result you will start to see Voidwings out and about in the ChS universe.

At the current moment Voidwings cannot be created via the free MYO slot but can be obtained via purchasing a custom from ChS staff or from adopts that will be coming soon.

There will ideally be a group wide event starting in early February to celebrate their release.

To learn more please check out the Voidwing wiki page here - > https://wiki.cheshirespecies.com/doku.php?id=voidwing Also make sure to go and check out the newest NPC, Kriss Redwing → https://wiki.cheshirespecies.com/doku.php?id=kriss

NEW 1A. As of 1/31/25 the traits 'Eyes of Madness', 'Different Pupil', 'Robotic Iris', and 'Googly Eyes' have all been combined into 'Alt Eyes'. This allows any iris and/or pupil colors, shapes, patterns ect. on the eyes. This trait is rare at this time. Compensatory traits have been given out as needed to designs that this applied to.

1B. It should also be noted that Voidwings have an ice breath ability. Ice breath does not give control of ice magic and Voidwings that want to use ice magic will need to learn it from the proper mentor when they are available.

Past News and Updates

1/3/2025

Hello Cosmonauts, we hope everyone had a great holiday and new years. We want to recap the progress of the group over the 2024 year as well as some of the future plans we are hoping to accomplish in 2025. While we work hard to make sure that we create and produce new content we can't promise that all of the planned features will be done this year. We also want to thank you for all the love and support we have received. This ARPG would not be possible with out the amazing players that make up this group. We look forward to soaring through the stars with everyone in 2025~

—-

2024 Accomplishments

—-

-The Crafting station is open and able to be used by members.

-One Free Starter MYO available for all users to claim on the ChS site.

-Release of Alfiens species, lore, and ability to choose the species for your free starter MYO.

-Character progression, weekly/bi-weekly, companion bonding and guild expeditions were released.

-Multiple Groupwide events. (Festival of Stars, Meteor Shower, One Year group celebration, ect.)

-Lore updates for the ChS universe, Degils, and Landmarks.

-Many traits have been combined, simplified, and lowered in rarity.

-Redesigns rules have been relaxed greatly and we retired unobtainable traits and subtypes. Now all subtypes and traits will be able to be accessed by members by items.

-Grand form and Condensed form introduced for all main ChS species besides Degils.

-Wiki page clean up/improvements.

-Lowered shop prices for MYOs purchased with crystals, potions can be sold back the Crystal shop now, and we reduced the requirements for 'full body' from 90% to 75%.

-Trait Packs have been officially retired and so have the trait pack perks.

We can't state enough how so much of this would not have been possible without the help of the web master MuzzyDeath's hard work on the ChS site. A huge round of applause for him and the hard work of the ChS team this year~ This year we made huge strides in creating content for players to enjoy, progress their characters with, streamlining site functions, and lore/species releases. With that in mind there is still a lot of work to be done here in the group and we have big plans for 2025!

—-

2025 Goals —-

-Update color coding on the Trait list and update images to better represent the traits.

-Fully release Magic training/Expeditions for at least three elements.

-Complete and release the Grand form and Condensed form for Degils.

-Create more Guild and character progression features/incentives.

-Event specific currency that can be spent in the shops by members for exclusive items and collectables.

-Update the ChS site to allow for multiple forms on one Shirefolk.

-Creation of a Hybrid item (allows multiple subtypes on one Shirefolk), Subtype change item (changes the subtype of a Shirefolk).

-Updates to the Questing System.

-Make item usage more independent for users.

-New lore releases/updates.

-Update/Spruce up the ChS Wiki. (Outfit and Uniform examples for guilds, starting work on scenery images for locations, images for deities)

-More groupwide events.

As you can see we have a lot on the docket for 2025, and we could not be more excited to get working on these goals. We would ask that if anyone has any ideas or suggestions for the ARPG that you send them to the [email protected] email. We value your feedback and look forward to making the group bigger and better over the coming year and thank you for finishing out 2024 with us! ~Chess —-

Expeditions are now available

Expeditions have officially been released. Shirefolk now have the ability to join guilds, earn character progression items, and really interact with the ChS world more.

You can find Expeditions on the Cheshirespecies.com website by logging in and clicking the ARPG tab and then selecting 'events'.

Submitting Event Entries and Expeditions.

All entries for Events and Expeditions will now need to be submitted by going to the http://Cheshirespecies.com website, logging in and clicking the ARPG tab and then selecting 'events' and clicking the 'submit' button listed under the Event or Expedition you with to submit something for.

Event and Expeditions that are not submitted via the 'Events' page will be declined.

All regular non-event and non-expedition art or writing should be submitted by clicking the ARPG tab, and then clicking 'art submission'. Which is the same as it was before.

—-

Character Progression items

With the release of Expeditions there are now also 'Character Progression items'. Each Shirefolk now has their own inventory that will record what 'Character Progression items' they have earned. These CPIs are bound to the character and can not be traded, gifted, sold, or transferred to other characters.

If a character changes ownership, the earned CPIs will go with them.

They are a way to show what milestones the character has accomplished and some Expeditions require your character to have specific CPIs before they can participate.

There is not currently a way to 'start over' with a Shirefolk's CPIs but that will be changed in the near future.

More expeditions will be released over time and they will allow you to scavenge for crafting materials and other goods to use or sell, but they are still in development at this time.

To see all the current CPIs you can check out the 'Progression Items' list under the Items Masterlist on the http://Cheshirespecies.com site.

—-

Guilds

Guilds can be joined at will but each Shirefolk can only join one guild at this time. There is not currently a way to leave a guild but this will change in the future.

Guilds are not account specific so you can have if you have multiple Shirefolk they can join different guilds with no issues.

Guilds currently can allow you to level up over time by doing guild work and earning medals, this will allow perks later in the game but at this time these features are currently in development with a variable release date.

—-

Subtype changing item

After a community poll it has been decided that an item will be created to allow a Shirefolk to change its subtype or possibly become a 'hybrid'. This item is still being worked on at this time but will be released in the near future.

———————————————–

11/08/24 Update

While in the process of deleting the trait items listed on the 10/08/24 update, I accidentally deleted 3 Trait Items that were not present on that list. Those Trait Items are

-Slime Part (Rare)

-Slime Body (Unique)

-Trail of bats (Uncommon)

These trait items have also become redundant and needed to be deleted but were scheduled to be deleted at a later time. If you owned one of these items and had not used it yet, please make a general request on the ChS site to tell me how many of these items you had, when/where you got them from (provide proof when able, I can cross check the logs to double confirm.) and I will provide a trait potion of the same rarity of that trait to make up for its loss.

I apologize for the confusion and mistake!

That being said, there has been a change to a remaining Trait Items and another that will be retired after 12/08/24.

—-

Strange Shark Tooth- Now gives the 'Different Teeth' trait rather than just the old 'Shark teeth' trait.

—-

Trail of Spirits will be retired after December 8th, 2024 due to being redundant. The trait can grant 'Magic Trail' but is being replaced by the 'Party Popper' trait that does the same thing. Make sure to use this item by December 8th, 2024 or sell it in the shop for Crystals before that date.

11/04/24

Hello Cosmonauts, there have been some exciting updates for the group.

Condensed and Grand forms —-

Firstly, we are excited to give the update that all the current ChS will be getting both a ‘condensed’ form and a ‘grand’ form. These can be used by the player at any time if it corresponds to the shirefolk’s species and subtype.

These forms do not need to be unlocked and can be used in events, prompts, ect. as desired. condensed forms and grand forms vary depending on the shirefolk’s subtype so please make sure to keep this in mind and check out what these alternate forms look like for your shirefolk.

At this time the following species have their grand and condensed forms fully released.

-Alfiens

-Fetters

-Desert Gremlins

All other main shirefolk will have their condensed and grand forms released over the coming months.

Alfien Condensed form and Grand form

Alfien’s will have a small change to what form is their standard form and their grand form. Currently the visual information has the Alfien grand form listed as the ‘Standard’ form and the standard form is in the box next to the condensed form. This will be edited soon to reflect the correct information.

Species information update

—-

Each shirefolk subtype will be getting more fleshed out lore and details on their respective species page as well as updated Subtype visual guides. As a visual guide is updated and finished, the lore for that subtype will be updated at the same time.

Along with these updates Wyrm fetters now will naturally come with the ‘levitation’ ability unlocked. This abilities information can be found in the Grimoire section of the Cheshirespecies.com website.

General trait changes

—-

-Wide Grin has been changed to ‘Different Grin’- and the new description is “This allows the shirefolk’s lips to be different shapes, wider than normal, smaller, external teeth instead of lips, ect.”

-Fin Ears has been merged with Fins and if the Fins trait is present a Shirefolk can have fins for ears. A compensation rare trait has been given in its place if the fins trait is already present. If the fins trait was not present it has been granted instead.

-Branch Tail and Mushroom gills has been merged with Bloom growth. Bloom growth now allows plants or branches to replace limbs if desired. Compensation traits have been applied if needed.

-Chitin Armor andScales have been merged into ‘scales’ and are rare. Compensation traits have been applied if needed.

-Leviathan Body has been dissolved as a trait entirely as it conflicted with the ‘Over Grown’ trait and was Seetra specific. Compensation traits have been applied if needed.

-Turtle Shell has been renamed to Shell and now allows any natural shell found on reptiles, snails, crabs, ect.

-Needle Teeth, Hinged fangs, and Shark Teeth have merged and renamed to ’Different Teeth and now allows for any different type of teeth sizes and shapes to be present on the design.

Max rarity traits have been retired (warped, corrupted ect.)

—-

Warped traits have officially been done away with and have either lowered in rarity or been merged with other traits entirely to reduce redundancy. There was nothing these traits offered to members that could not be encompassed in the current rarity system and the gatekeeping of these traits does not align with the mission of the ChS game. As a result, the following traits have been merged with others or reduced in rarity.

-Living Skull has been renamed Exposed bone and is now a unique trait that allows exposed bone anywhere on the Shirefolk.

-Snapper Maw – Has been merged with ‘Different Grin’, a compensation ‘unique’ trait has been given in its place.

-Gaping maw, Wandering maw, Split Jaw, and Double Jaw, have been merged and renamed to ’Jaws of terror’ and compensation traits have been given where needed. The ‘Jaws of Terror’ trait’s new description is “Allows any major jaw or maw changes, split jaw, double jaw, mouths elsewhere on the body ect.”

-Ethereal Eye has been merged with Magical Projection and compensation traits have been given where needed.

-Scythe tail has been merged with Major Object Growth. A Unique trait has been given where needed.

-Hallucinogenic Saliva Has been dissolved as a trait entirely. A Unique trait has been given where needed.

Elemental traits have been retired

All elemental traits can either be accomplished by maxing out a specific type of magic or can be mimicked with other traits on the trait list such as ‘magical projection’ or ‘miasma markings’. Those that lost these traits have had them replaced with a ‘unique’ trait replacement.

-Lightening Rod Tail Has been dissolved as a trait entirely. A Unique trait has been given where needed.

-Elemental Limbs Has been dissolved as a trait entirely. A Unique trait has been given where needed.

-Elemental Ears Has been dissolved as a trait entirely. A Unique trait has been given where needed.

-Elemental Wings Has been dissolved as a trait entirely. A Unique trait has been given where needed.

Any designs that had an unused ‘warped’ trait has had this trait replaced with an unused ‘Unique’ trait.

Retired Subtypes

As of now the following subtypes have been retired-

-Plague

-Corrupted

-Blessed

If you have a design with this subtype you are not required to change it at this time, but if you would like to change your characters subtype you will be able to change it to any subtype the species has to offer. To change your characters subtype please put in a general request on the Cheshirespecies.com website. Please link the design with the retied subtype and what subtype you like them to have now.

10/20/24 Update B I am so sorry for the back to back updates, I realized there were more traits that needed to get updated yesterday but were not.

As of today 'legendary' will no longer be a rarity option after the update finishes in about an hour. The few traits that are 'legendary' would better fit in the 'rare' category and this allows the current trait rarities to stay the same. This is also means that all traits are once again earnable. At this time there is no way to earn legendary traits. This is not conducive to the game and as a result I will be working to update all designs with unused 'legendary' traits on them to reflect as 'rare' since it would offer the same options as before.

The following traits are being changed to 'rare' as of today-

-Fairy Ears

-Naga Body

-Insect Tail

-Winged Ears

-Feet Swap

-Object Tail

-Pincer Ears

10/19/24 Update A

Hello fellow cosmonauts~

There have been some major changes to certain traits. We are aiming to reduce redundancy and allow traits to be more versatile for players.

Below is a change log to let you know what has been updated.

Traits have have been combined may now have a different description that better reflects what the trait now encompasses.

At current the rarity color coding on the ChS website is not correct but that will be worked on over the coming weeks so that the colors on the shown traits match the listed rarity.

More traits may be updated or changed in the future but we will update everyone should that happen.

Official Trait change log

Traits that have been combined:

-Feathered wings, Insect wings, dragon wings, and Hybrid Wings have all been combined to the 'Wings' trait.

-Manta wings and Aquatic tail has been combined with Fins (due to the rarity change a replacement trait has been granted to designs with the old Manta wings trait)

-X- Ray Parts and X-Ray body have been combined and are now called 'X-Ray'. (due to the rarity change a replacement trait has been granted to designs that had x-ray body)

-Slime Parts and Slime body have been combined and are now called 'Slime' (due to the rarity change a replacement trait has been granted to designs that had Slime body)

-All 'trail' traits as well as 'glowing paw prints' and 'Slime paws' have been combined into one trait 'Magic Trail' and now allows a trail of anything to follow the Shirefolk. Cats, dogs, plants, fish, birds, rocks, confetti, buttons, ghosts, smoke, ect. Remember that these trails are just a visual projection made by the Shirefolk and any drawn creatures can not be registered as companions. This can not be used to have a trail of Shirefolk follow them however.

-Glowing markings, Glowing horns, glowing eyes, and inner glow have all been combined into the trait 'Glow'. (due to the rarity change a replacement trait has been granted to designs that had Glowing Horns)

- The following pupil traits have been condensed into 'Different Pupil'. Strange Pupils, Shaped pupil, Moon Pupil, Double Pupil, Pale eyes, Multiple pupils.

-The following traits traits have been condensed into 'Eyes of Madness'. Colored Sclera, Full eyes, Eyes of madness, heterochromia, and Iris Ring ( Trait replacements have been given accordingly.)

-Leaking Pupil has been combined with Miasma Eyes. (due to the rarity change a replacement trait has been granted to designs that had Leaking pupil)

-Bat Ears has been merged with Winged Ears.

Trait Changes

-Abyssal Eyes is now a Rare trait. Designs that had the Abyssal Eyes trait have been granted a Warped Trait replacement.

-Double tail is now uncommon (Replacement traits have been given)

-Kitsune tail is now rare (Replacement traits have been given)

-Ball tail, Frizzed tail, split tip tail, and Prehensile tail have been made common. (Replacement traits have been given)

-Dewdrop horns, Oddball horns, Notched Horns, Can opener horn, and Rhino Horn, have been made common. (Replacement traits have been given)

-Split ears, Pup Ears, Flop ears, and Frayed ears, have been made common. (Replacement traits have been given)

Hello fellow cosmonauts~

The ARPG Shop has been updated to allow users to sell the following trait items that are being retired

-Will-o-Wisp

-Lunar Halo

-Candy Cane Bones

-Candy Corn Bones

-Halo

Feel free to head over to the shop to sell these items if you do not wish to use them on a design of yours. Make sure to either sell or use these items before they are fully retired!

In other news the wiki is getting some much needed updates with planet images, location information being fleshed out, and other visuals on the way. It is my hope that these visuals and new information updates will allow for more in depth character development and world immersion for players.

I am also pleased to say that both Grand forms and Condensed forms are in the works for the current ChS main species and will hopefully be released either late this year or early next year. These forms will not need to be unlocked and come naturally with the Shirefolk.

Alfien's do not apply to this update as they already have their Grand and Condensed forms developed and released.

As always I appreciate your continued support

~Chess

10/08/24 –Some 'Trait items' are going away, use them before they are gone!

Due to some traits being combined there are some trait items that are now redundant and as a result will be getting retired on 11/7/24.

Instead of granting the 'trait' listed on the item they will grant the trait they have been merged into and thus will give you more freedom with the trait.

The following items will be leaving the game on 11/7/24

-Lunar Halo Trait Item (Will grant 'Magical Projection' Trait)

-Halo Trait Item (Will grant 'Magical Projection' Trait)

- Will-o-Wisp Trait Item (Will grant 'Magical Projection' Trait)

-Candy Cane Bones Trait Item (Will grant 'Candy Bones' Trait)

-Candy Corn Bones Trait Item (Will grant 'Candy Bones' Trait)

To use these items, simply send in a master list update request with the trait being applied to the Shirefolk of your choice.

Items are now transferrable to other users

Items in the game that can be transferred to other players now no longer require you to send in a request to do so.

Players can now just go to their inventory, click a category, and if an item is able to be transferred you will see a button on the items card indicating they can be transferred.

Not all items are transferrable to keep this in mind.

In order to transfer to another user, you will have to have their ChS site name and input it into the transfer form that pops up. If you do not have the correct ChS username for the other player your transfer will not go through.

Please make sure to be very careful when transferring items or in game currency and insure you are sending the correct amount and that it is being sent to the correct user.

Alfiens are now able to be selected for your Free MYO slot

Alfiens are now an option when selecting your Free Starter MYO slot. Only the Nimbus Subtype is available at this time. Have fun!

~Chess

9/2/24

Redesign Rules have been updated

Redesign rules have been updated to allow users to redesign a Shirefolk as they see fit without it needing to be based on the original design like it has needed to in the past.

Redesigns will need to be submitted to the site with the following things in mind:

-Redesigns DO NOT have to be based off of the original and designs can be scrapped entirely and made anew as the player desires.

-Any and all redesigns must stay with that particular Shirefolk even if not being used. Any attempts to circumvent this will be considered cheating.

-A redesign may not be removed from one Shirefolk and then put on another.

-A log of all designs that were made and approved for a Shirefolk are being kept for logging purposes and will at some point in the future be added to the Shirefolk's ML page.

-The Original design will always be listed on the Shirefolk's ML page under the 'Original' Tab for record keeping purposes.

-If the Shirefolk has multiple forms unlocked, these forms will need to be approved individually and added onto the ML once this feature is available. At this time this feature is not yet ready but we will update when it is.

You can swap out traits of the same rarity as desired but if you wish to add new traits you will need to have to proper potions for them. The only exception to this is for common traits which are free.

Small trait update

-The 'Multiple Heads' trait now allows you have as many heads on the design as you would like. In the past this trait only allowed three heads total.

We hope that these new redesign rules allow for players to have more fun and change characters to better suit them in the game.

~Chess

8/23/24 Small Alfien Lore Update

-It is cannon that Alfien's can breathe fire, however this is not to be confused with fire magic which is different. Alfien's can be drawn or written breathing fire and you will not need Fire Magic unlocked. They can only breath fire from their mouths and can not manifest fire from their hands or the air around them without having Fire Magic unlocked.

Trait Updates-

-'Fairy wings' has been merged with 'Insect Wings' since they were the same trait. The ML has been updated to reflect 'Insect wings' as the new standard for the trait.

-Common and Fairy Degils now have the 'Plant Trail' Trait as one of their natural traits. This means that all Degils of that subtype will have that trait even if it is not showing. Due to it being a Natural trait it can not be swapped for other traits so please keep this in mind.

-In the past Fairy Degils had 'Insect Wings' and 'Insect tail' as their natural traits. This has been changed and Fairy Degils now have 'Insect wings', 'Multiple ears', and 'Plant Trail' as their natural traits. The ML has been updated to reflect this. If your Fairy Degil already has 'Insect tail' unlocked then the design is able to keep that trait or swap it out for one of the same rarity if desired.

8/20/24

Removal of ‘Trait Pack Perks’

The ChS group has offered 'Trait Pack Perks' for a long while now to allow users to earn a few higher rarity traits and unlock a few lower rarity traits at the same time. This system was not used by players and often players did not know these packs or their perks existed. There was also a point of confusion on how the packs worked. Due to these and a few other factors the ‘Trait Pack Perk’ system has been removed from the game.

Users are no longer able to earn the packs 3 unique traits and auto-unlock the other traits in the pack. Trait packs are not going away, and more will be released, but it will be more for purposes of organization rather than for perks.

With the removal of this system, it allowed for the changing and merging of certain traits without taking perks away from members. Please read the ‘Trait Updates’ notification below to see the traits that have been changed and the new freedoms they allow you as a player!

Trait Updates

-The traits ‘Drink Filling’ and ‘Snow Globe Insides’ have been merged and renamed to ‘Glass Filling’. ‘Glass Filling’ now allows any kind of filling to be applied to the inside of the ‘Glass parts’ and ‘Glass Curse’ trait. Prior, only drinks or potions could be applied, this update allows more versatility since you can put anything from confetti, to a whole beach scene inside of the glass parts. This trait has had its rarity lowered to Uncommon. Any design that had the ‘Drink Filling’ or ‘Snow Globe Insides’ trait present has had an unused rare trait given to them as compensation.

-The trait ‘Lil Vampire Wings’ has been merged with ‘Dragon wings’. Dragon Wings can be drawn in the smaller version that was shown with ‘Lil Vampire Wings’ if desired.

-All Wing traits ‘Dragon Wings’, ‘Feathered Wings’, ‘Hybrid Wings’ ‘Insect Wings’, and ‘Manta wings’ now allow any number of wings desired. In the past wing traits only allowed up to two sets of wings at a time.

- ‘Second Set of Limbs’ has now been renamed to ‘Extra limbs’ and allows as many extra arms and legs as desired once unlocked.

-All halo traits ‘Halo’, ‘Dark Halo’, ‘Lunar Halo’ and ‘will-o-wisp’ have been combined and renamed as ‘Magical projection’. This trait now allows a wide range of versatility such as clouds, halos of any kind, holograms, mini suns, ect. to float above or around your Shirefolk. As usual this trait can not be used to mimic other traits, so just be sure your idea does not better fit under one of the ‘magical trail’ traits. This trait can be combined with the ‘Magical trail’ traits to make cool mixes!

- ‘Colored back legs’ and has been merged into ‘Sock Markings’ for Fetters and is now a common trait. Other ChS species do not have color or marking restrictions like this and in an effort to make things more fair this trait is now just ‘rare’ in lore and not actually listed as a rare or uncommon trait. Those that have the ‘Colored back legs’ trait have been given an unused rare trait as compensation. Those that have ‘Sock markings’ have been given an unused uncommon trait as compensation.

- ‘Intricate Horns’ Have been made common. Any designs with this trait were given a free rare trait as compensation.
