Desert Gremlins
Desert Gremlins are semi-reptiles with thick skin that can shed from time to time but the added benefit of being warm blooded. Every Gremlin naturally comes with three eyes on their heads. Two set in a forward position on either side of the skull and one that is centered on their forehead. They typically have thick fatty tails and round soft tummies. While Gremlins can come in many shapes and sizes a thick tail and round belly is considered a sign of good health amongst the species.
The pair of eyes they have located just above their cheek bones function much like a humans eyes, able to see a wide range of color, good depth perception, and have pupils that dilate with as needed. The third eye is rather special and allows the Gremlins to see the actual flow of magic around them. They use this special sight to allow them to better harness magic and refine items infused with magic. If you ever want to check and see if that new talisman you bought is real or a hoax, bring it to a Gremlin and they can tell you with just a glace.
Their hands end in three small pointed fingers and a thumb on each hand and each foot has three thick toes that can either be similar to the fingers or covered in a thick outer layer of keratin.
Gremlins are omnivores and as such they have a diet that is similar to humans with meat, fruits, grains, vegetables, and insects on the menu. Their teeth consist of small sharp teeth towards the front of the mouth and molars in the back.
Life Cycle
Desert Gremlins start off life as an egg that is roughly the size of an Ostrich egg. This egg is incubated for about two to three months before a soft chunky Gremlin hatches and spends most of its time sleeping, eating, and growing. They become more independent at about a year old, able to speak and are usually and exploring what crafts or skills they enjoy learning. Once a Gremlin is in their teen years they start exploring the towns and cities around them. They can try out different works and trades that are not specific to their own hometown and thus continue their journey of personal growth, honing their skills, and perfecting their crafts. Once a Gremlin is an adult they usually have picked a form of occupation (often times a craft or tradework) and will usually set up a shop of their own, work with their family if the trade is similar, or join a guild of workers that share the same trade. When interplanetary travel became available many younger Gremlins decided to set up shop on other planets to try and avoid the tough competition that they faced on their home world.
Once a Gremlin has entered the end portion of their life they like to take the funds they have saved over the years and like to sit back and relax. They will often take younger Gremlins under their wings to help train and make sure traditional methods of doing things are not lost to time. They find this to be a very important part of their culture and it is seen as a high privilege to be able to teach others and help them grow.
Variants
Currently there is only one type of Desert Gremlin but this may change in the future.
Common

-Common Desert Gremlin Information: These Desert Gremlins usually sport thick tails and round soft tummies. Their thick skin and dense tissue disperses the intense heat they experience on their planet and allows them to live comfortably in dry and arid regions. They have a good fat supply that can allow them to go up to a month without food if needed. They have very dexterous hands that they use the same way humans do and often have hard 'hoof-like' toes. These toes are very durable and spread out when on sand, allowing the Gremlin to travel across it with ease and without sinking.
-Natural Traits: Tri-Eye and Spikes
-Condensed form details: This smaller form has a more rounded and flat foot similar to an elephant, their tails become thicker, and their ears and eyes are much larger. These forms are used often when working with smaller parts of machinery or tight spaces on spacecrafts. The eye on their forehead is usually closed and dormant as this form is less receptive to magic. Sometimes a gremlin will switch to this form if there is an overpowering amount of magic nearby so that they do not get overwhelmed by it.
-Grand form details: This massive form sports a longer body and neck with shorter arms and legs that put them closer to the ground. It also has an assortment of spikes/spines going down he back of the neck, the tail, arms, and jawline. Their back feet have become larger and their toes now come to a shaper point which helps them with digging and burrowing in sand. The head in this form has a more triangular shape rather then the circle shape found on the other forms. This broader head has allowed the third eye to become much larger and the regular eyes are now much smaller. This form is very sensitive to magical energy and traces. If there is even a feint magical trail this form is able to pick up on it and track it over long distances. Due to the size of this form and the spines that usually appear, it is not used in heavily populated areas and is reserved for places like the open desert.
-Susbtype notes: Desert Gremlins normally have the more 'hoof-like' toes as shown above but can present with more 'Paw-like' toes at times.

Home world and Culture
—-
Desert Gremlins are native to the harsh planet Tollum. Under the light of Tollum's blue sun and three moons Gremlins have flourished for centuries.
They have a very artist culture with their homes and buildings being ornately crafted with fine details. Their days are often made up of hard work and well deserved rest. In the middle of the work day one can walk into any given city on Tollum and find all the residents lounging about in the sun to rest. Working during this rest period is frowned upon by locals but they are tolerant of the fact that not all residents of Tollum follow their cultural norms.
A Gremlin that has no talent or craft is often looked upon with pity in their society. It is this very expectation that has driven some Gremlins to become masters of their craft and others to leave their home planet entirely.
With the great deal of pride that Gremlins hold in their work they can be a bit snobbish at times and will hold the work of other species to a high level of scrutiny. Despite this level of pride most Gremlins love the opportunity to teach their craft to other species.
Their planet consists of mostly deserts that change to tundra and ice as you go deeper South or higher North towards the planets poles. It is due to these mostly hot environments that most Gremlins don’t have fur and those that do are found in the planets polar regions.
With such a harsh climates being the normal for Tollum it never developed a wide range of flora and was very dull until Gremlin’s made use of local mineral deposits. The few plants do grow there are used to create dyes. Once dyes were discovered the species could not get enough of it. Mixing them into their building materials, clothing, and armors. Their towns and villages are often competing to have the most colorful and well decorated buildings. Those with the best colors are considered luxury spaces and have a higher property value while serving as a tourist destination as well.
While being very intelligent Gremlins have a lot of their daily lives built on the use of magic and eventually were able to travel through space because of it as well. Once they were introduced to the galactic commission they were put under a local system’s protection and have little to worry about in the depths of space. They have found good trade with other nearby systems, particularly the ones that hosts Earth, Anua, and Redoa.
