+**Brief summery:**The SPA is a large branching group that dedicates themselves to protecting sentient life forms in their territory. They will defend planets that are new to deep space travel from pirates, corporations, and those that would otherwise take advantage of them. They do this with the understanding that these life forms will join them at a later point and help to continue their mission. Formed after the fall of The Crimson Wings and the [[Talasii]] guild.

+The SPA started as nothing more than a few systems banding together to fight back against [[Talasii]] guild and its founders The Crimson Wings. After repelling the Talasii, The Crimson Wings decided to take action and attack the few systems that put up resistance. The these system's surprise the new of their victory spread and other systems that were tired of being under the thumb of the Talasii and they sent reinforcements to help repel the returning Talasii force. With their combined efforts the rebellion was able to defeat the Talasii forces and almost destroyed The Crimson Wings. After the Talasii leaders retreated to uncharted space the celebrations began and the allied systems quickly created the group known as the 'Shire Protection Authority'. With the goal to protect systems like themselves from lawless groups that would take advantage of those that did not have developed military forces or that were new to deep space.
+The SPA has grown with leaps and bounds across the Milky Way with a large part of charted space in their territory range. They constantly work to find new systems and take them under their wing before other guilds get a chance to. They feel they can offer these systems the best protection and allow them a chance to gain their footing before they choose a guild or faction to align with. They are able to continually expand their reach by having systems that they protect pay a tax that covers the military forces needed there. Eventually once a system is far enough advanced they are often allowed a representative in the SPA that can advocate for specific terms and rights the system may want or need.
+The SPA is happy to help protect systems from outside forces like the Talasii but has a strict policy to not interfere with intersystem wars/issues since it is something they do not consider within their power to do. A system will have changes in power, or species that may not agree with one another and that is their business to have a hand in.
+In this way it can be frustrating for some systems that want the SPA to help them but requests will be denied since it is an intersystem issue rather than an outside force trying to take advantage of them.
+Eventually a system may be offered a spot on the SPA council but this is rare do to limited positions being open. Having a seat on the council allows that member to help make large decisions for the SPA and when it will or will not provide aid. The SPA has a charged relationship with the [[CorpiVain]] guild due to the mix of good and bad practices they have. The SPA works hard to try and regulate the CorpiVain guild but it is difficult with how far their reach is as well as how good the Corpi PR team is at covering up issues. There are some rumors that the CorpiVain guild has bribed some council members and system representatives, allowing 'ad planets' into systems that had prior seemed to be very much against them. These claims are being investigated but have so far been deemed unfounded.

+An SPA Medal is item given out by the guild to those that have earned them. These medals are usually earned by performing valiant feats, successfully protecting cargo transport ships from pirates, making significant research developments, freeing territory from under the control of pirates like the [[Talasii]], or things that would otherwise bring honor and resources to the guild. Many Shirefolk will wear these medals on their uniforms or find some way to incorporate them in their ships or gear. Since the ribbon on the metal can be detached it is common to take the ribbons off and use attach the medals to things like you would for a badge. Since some SPA members have lots of these they may not wear them all at once and have them spread across  multiple uniforms or outfits. Because of this it is standard procedure to introduce your self and then your rank when speaking with others in a formal fashion. The blue part of the ribbon represents bravery, while the white symbolizes justice and finally the gold symbolizes compassion and warmth. These are key traits that the SPA likes to see in their agents. Once enough of these have been collected the Shirefolk's rank in the guild will increase.

+Each guild has a ranking system that shows the status of its members. The lowest rank is 1 and the current highest is 5. Shirefolk can earn higher ranks in their guild by participating in [[Guild Work]] and earning the corresponding guild item. SPA members will earn medals!

You may have multiple characters in different guilds if desired. Rank up items are character specific and can not be given to other players nor to other characters. If a character is traded, gifted, or sold, all rank up items, badges, and character specific items will go with them.**
